We had never been on a cruise of any kind before. My husband wasn’t fond of going on a sea cruise so we opted last minute for this river cruise with Avalon, one of the best decisions we’ve made in many years as it turned out!

We were impressed with the customer focussed organisation and service provided by Avalon and its members of staff. To achieve such seamlessness indicates that this company has good management and that its staff are attentive to their customers.

We couldn’t fault the food, we were slightly worried that there might be too much food but whilst there are lots of choices and courses the portions are not over the top. You can therefore eat as much or as little as you choose. The wine, cocktails and beers available were much better quality than we had envisaged, very good. The cruise director Istfan did a marvellous job of keeping everyone up to date, managing the on board entertainment and generally ensuring everyone’s questions and queries were met in a timely fashion.

Cabin Review

Panorama Suite with French Balcony

Our room was very comfortable. One wardrobe, with shelving, a safe, bathrobes and slippers. An additional cupboard with shelves and a mini bar combined with a desk/dressing table comprised the storage in the bedroom. There was also a sofa, table and chair. The bathroom was excellent. A good walk-in shower, temperature and power of shower were good. L’occitane shampoo, conditioner and bath gel available along with a small vanity kit (no shower cap so bring your own). Hairdryer in one of the two cupboards in the bathroom. The central cupboard contains a useful bin. Lots of towels and face cloths. A close up mirror with a light along with a large mirror over the sink with a shelf along the front. Excellent all round.

Port Reviews

Rudesheim

My favourite port on the cruise because we were slap bang in the middle of the village which it made it easy to walk in and out of this charming medieval village.
