We'd always been interested in Egypt and had seen artifacts over the years at different museums. The highlight was a traveling exhibit of spectacular discoveries from 2019 which we saw in San Francisco in 2022, and an email from Uniworld a few months later had us hooked and ready to book this Cruise.

We learned on Day 1 that we had a brilliant scholar and a humorous, thoughtful and caring guide in our Egyptologist, Hazem. He brought to life all of the temples, statues, history and discoveries of the Ancient World, learned about each guest's interests and travel styles very early on and took great care to personalize our experiences. We were never rushed if we wanted to linger at a site or an artist's studio. He also helped us purchase several unique items.

The S.S. Sphinx is a spectacular ship -- Five Star quality all the way. The beautiful and comfortable decor in every room and space was wonderful. We were amazed that there were sixty crew members for 83 guests, and they were all incredibly hospitable, helpful, and went above and beyond constantly! The variety and quality of the food, with so many new and familiar Mediterranean specialities kept us full and happy. We were also introduced to some excellent Egyptian wines. Loved learning to make Baklava and Pita Bread!

French Balcony

Our French Balcony was gorgeous and very spacious. We had the feeling that we may have received an upgrade, as the bathroom and living areas were larger than on our Danube River Cruise last year! Super comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. Our housekeepers were incredible -- they'd rush to open our door as soon as they spotted us on the landing of our floor.
