Sail Date: Oct 2023
Cabin: Penthouse with Balcony

We mainly choose this based on the itinerary. And we got a great price on it too. I had read that this was NCL's smallest ship and somewhat geared toward adults. We found that to be the case. The only time the kids were a problem (and it wasn't really a problem) was that the game room was about the only place for kid activities. So it was full of them on the sea days. The itinerary was great except for this weird stop in Kauai. It just didn't make sense since we docked at 3pm and left at 6am the next morning. All other stops were great. The ship is smaller but packed full of great places. They had nightly karaoke; lots of great dance music; and a nice gym and thermal suite (it is expensive tho). We opted for a penthouse suite and it was wonderful. Nice and roomy and you get some extra perks with the suites: escorted off the ship at stops, special seating in the showroom, breakfast and lunch in Cagney's steakhouse, and more food brought to our suite than we could eat. Also a welcome bottle of champagne or wine. We ate in 4 of the specialty dining restaurants. They were good. Not great. As far as the food. The staff at each of them were superb! The main dining room Windows was also good but not great. But again, the staff made it wonderful. The comedy of Vince Acevedo was fantastic. Just really funny. The production show was wonderful and the aerialists were amazing. We felt we got a lot of bang for our buck on this cruise. Would sail on the Spirit again for sue!

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Balcony

We were in a penthouse suite with balcony. The balcony is rather small compared to the size of the suite. But the suite was wonderful. Layed out nicely with a table and 3 chairs, a sofa and a TV. Plus there was a sort of bar area with glasses and a Napresso machine. Lots of cupboard space and a small fridge. A doorway led into the separate bedroom with a king bed. There is a vanity area and closet just outside the bedroom. The bathroom is what really sets it apart. There is a double sink, a separate toilet room, shelving, a shower with a full window looking out to sea and a tub with window looking out to sea. The only issue was the lack of plug for the water flosser. This ship does not have many US type plugs so bring adapters if you have them. The walls are also not magnetic which we always count on!

Port Reviews

We rented a car. Picked up a shuttle outside the port and got a rental car. Went to Volcanoes and Punalua beach. Blackest sand you will ever see! Good stop!

Maui we rented a car and went to a couple of beaches. You can leave the car neat the port and walk back on the ship so it is convenient to do this

Bought a tour from Expedia and it was excellent. They picked us up right at the port. We ate lunch with our feet in the water at a Motu. Also went to Vanilla plantation, pearl farm and coral gardens!

Miti tours, met us at the port and took us to 2 snorkeling spots and a Moth lunch. Very entertaining and fun!
