We just finished our cruise with NCL Pride Of America (POA). We booked through NCL directly. First off, do not book flight with NCL. We booked on our own and saved over $1100 for four. Also, don't book hotel through NCL, we booked our own. NCL wanted $350 per night! We paid $86 through expedia. As for transfers from airport to hotel or pier, we had 4 adults and 1 child with a lot of luggage. Most taxi's won't take this much on as I read in previous reviews. I booked a limo from airport to hotel then next day from hotel to pier. Total charge was $126 with tax(not tip). Read in earlier reviews that taxi would be about $40 each trip and would need 2 for all people and luggage. If you need a limo, use Dang's limo. He is online, books through phone or email, and is very knowledgeable about times and places. Limo was waiting for us each time. Limo driver calls ahead to make sure your there. Just an awesome company!! Also, you may not need to rent a luggage cart. Go out to curb (near baggage claim) and look for carts people just left. You have plenty of time as it takes a while for luggage to come in to baggage claim(learned this from security guy at baggage claim). Excursions: We did not book any as they are way too expensive!! Heard from other's that Robert's is much cheaper for same. We rented cars through Thrifty at each port and there was free shuttles to rental cars. Much cheaper. In Kona, the rental car pickup for Thrifty is at the King Kamehameha's hotel at the pier(about a 50 yard walk). When booking this one make sure to pick pier and not airport. All piers had free shuttles to shopping and some to beaches. In Kona, all the shops are in walking distance to pier. Room: Had a balcony on 10th floor, room was decent, but the support beams for upper deck were blocking views from balcony. Balcony was still nice on the ocean, just to sit on. Looking left or right had obstructed views. Have read some reviews that pullout bed blocks access to balcony. Was not so in the two rooms we had, yes the walking width is narrow, but no narrower that between wall and other beds. I thought it was ok. It's not like your running out to the balcony every minute! The other problem we had was getting creamer in our room! Was told 1st day by our steward that it was outdated. We just left port at Honolulu and they restock that morning!! Told me to call room service and have it delivered. I did, they never brought it. Did eventually get some but had to ask daily and several times!! Restaurants: Aloha Cafe was pretty good. Had problems keeping silverware at tables and usually had to ask someone. They would tell you take it from another table, and there was never any. Then they would bring out some for you after you asked again, and not for any other tables. This happened at least twice a day! Same problem with creamer at the tables. If you were lucky there would be one or two. I would chase someone down and they would "tell" someone else. Never was very fortunate unless I went to someone in white. They ALWAYS helped us! One time I did this and when the waiter brought creamer to our table, he reprimanded me! Told me that I should just take it from another table, as this was Freestyle cruising!! When I told him to look around and tell what table to get it from, his response was "you might have to bet up and walk around till you find some". HELLO, after all the money we spent on this I think you could have creamer and silverware available at all times. Also, the only way to get spoons is at the buffet stations. Must be nobody stirs cream and sugar in their coffee! Also, had problems with highchairs. Always had to chase them down. I think there is one in each restaurant. We ate mostly at the Aloha Cafe and Cadillac Diner. Food at Cafe was decent, but mass produced. Kid's loved it!! Cadillac Diner was terrific and efficient. Sam Day is the restaurant manager and really run's a great place. Excellent food and service. The milkshakes are really good and cost and additional $3.50. Skyline restaurant service was horrible. Servings were very small. No one asked us for drink order, if we wanted wine or if we wanted coffee at dessert. Had to ask for dessert menu. Jefferson Bistro was good food and service but not worth cover charge in my opinion. Some menu items had additional charge on top of cover charge. I can spend that much going out to eat on shore at a authentic restaurant. Little Italy was good. Although our two waiters did not know what each other was doing and we got duplicate service for stuff. Once again, had to ask for drinks. No offers. Also, I noticed at the restaurants(except Cadillac) when they take your order they never say"would you like to start with appetizers" even thought they are offered. They just ask for you order. You have to tell them what you want!!! Don't be afraid to ask for another order of something if you like it. Same goes for dessert(except Cadillac). None of the bars ever seemed very busy. The prices were slightly high. And there is always a built in service charge. The shops are way overpriced and you can get better quality items at a much better price at the different islands. The main pool was always busy, but the smaller pool on deck 12 was quiet. All in all not bad, just thought I would pass on my opinion.
