We've looked at various Viking cruises for the past few years on-line and catalog. Having never travelled to the continent, we chose the Grand European Tour to experience as many cultures, ports, and excursions as possible. We enjoyed a 3 day pre-cruise extension in Prague that was fabulous. Our hotel was located just one block off the pedestrian walkways to the Old Town Square. The energy of the city was palpable - friendly locals, great food & drink, along with centuries old sights of interest. Busing to Budapest allowed us to drink in the beautiful countryside of The Czech Republic and Hungary. Starting our cruise in Budapest and concluding in Amsterdam gave us all we had hoped for. We were blessed with blue skies and sunshine, memorable excursions at each port, and new friends with shared experiences.

Viking makes the journey seamless. Their organization and logistics are exemplary and virtually eliminate travel anxiety. Guides were informative, knowledgable and easily understood. Directions and timelines were clear at each port. We are confident that this cruise is only our first with Viking!

Cabin Review

Veranda Superior

We booked a Veranda Stateroom that was very comfortable and met our needs. Loved the heated bathroom floor :-). The balcony was very enjoyable and provided another option for viewing.

Port Reviews

We chose an excursion at Passau to fly to Neuschwanstein Castle in southern Bavaria, built by mad Ludwig II. The flight over Bavaria was breathtaking - verdant green farm land, woodlands, and hamlets. No straight roads reflected the centuries-old paths between villages. The flight was the "icing on the Castle" - an unexpected serendipity!
