We chose this cruise as we are Diamond Class on Royal Caribbean and so far they have never disappointed. We wanted to try this ship as the only RCI Southampton based and needed to sample before commiting to other sailings. For us this ship is too big and even though it was not a School break there were 500 children on board. We had a balcony but also a young family either side, when they were outside it was noisy but fortunately not always. The cabin was clean and well maintained and our Stewrad, Roel, was first class. Sadly for the first time we found th Restaurant (Chic) somewhat disappointing. the menu range was poor, and sadly some of the dishes were bland in taste. I always try the cheese platter on RCI, for the first time the cheeses came with TWO crackers and nothing more. The cheeses themselves were not UK sourced and quite tasteless. it seems we no longer get an offer of lobster tails on a Formal Night. there was no Cown & Anchor event neither. The Maitre D' insisted on making a five minute chat at 180 decibels during the Entree course and this always klled any attemp at conversing with the other guests. On all other ships the waiter would pass on the same information at the end of a meal. on any other ship the waiters & chefs usually do a parade on the last night. On the Anthem they ALL paraded every other night , six times in all! I drank Red Strip Beer whilst on board, shown on all menus as 423ml for $8.75. In at least three bars they were selling you a Red Stripe in a 330ml bottle, a third less for the same price. Sadly this fact went over the heads of the bar staff. All other areas it was pretty good but sometimes crowded. This was the first ship to disappoint in some areas.
Pretty good. Clean and more than ample storage space. Tea & Coffee makings too.
Even though a Spanish member of the Excursions staff gave the Port briefing she did NOT mention it would be a Sunday and ALL shops shut. The Cruise Ships now dock at a quay outside of town and there are NO shuttle buses. There are taxis but these too are limited and be prepared for a hot wait in the sun. With a sore leg and a recently recovered back injury the journey into town by foot was memorable.
