We chose this cruise because it was a 16 day cruise with only 1 full day at sea. There was a wide-range of excursions, however, most of the included ones required very little activity, so we did choose several more active options, bike rides, zodiac boats and hikes. As first time Viking cruisers we were not as prepared as we needed to be for dinners, as you could not wear jeans (not matter how dressy they were) in any of the restaurants except the buffet. We enjoy table service for dinner, so was able to find a couple of new outfits while at port and we were "styling". It was interesting that the dinning rooms would allow sweat pants and leggings, but not jeans. While the buffet offered a wide selection and was always good quality, Chef's Table was our favorite. The pre-fix meal changed every couple of days and we were able to get a reservation 3 nights and every dish was unique, delicious and paired with wines for each course. Manfredi's was our 2nd favorite, while it had an Italian flare, there were "specials" each evening and lots of variety. Even with the Silver Spirits package, the wines were good, not great, but the finer wines could be purchased at an additional cost. The service was amazing, from our room steward, to all of the bar and restaurant servers and the coordinators that assisted us getting off the ship and welcomed us when we returned. The nightly entertainment was top-notch and the theatre was often full, so advise those interested to get there at least 15-30 minutes early for good seating. We did discover that there are activities that are not listed anywhere, but we were told about by other cruisers, and it included a galley tour of the kitchens and it is worth asking the concierge about, as it was fascinating. And the bridge tour, where you actually get to walk around the bridge and meet the staff; again was an awesome experience. We upgraded to a PV room and it was worth every penny; a little extra space made a big difference for us. Finally, we were in awe, as we had front row seats in the Explorer Lounge for our 1st "sailaway" from Stockholm out to sea, the views were spectacular. We have very little experience with cruising but will definitely cruise again with Viking.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Veranda Stateroom

Was a nice layout with a small, but adequate balcony. Sometimes, it is the small things that can make a difference, like the heated bathroom floors. Our suite steward was awesome.
