RHINE RIVER CRUISE (2023-09-24 TO 2023-10-02)

UBER driver arrived 10 minutes early than 5 AM reservation but that was fine. $2.90 airport surcharge, booking fee $9.14, reservation fee $5.00. LAS to ATL went off without a hitch, wheelchair was waiting right in the jet way and took us to the Delta lounge. Then arranged wheelchair to go to the gate for CDG. CDG is a maze and wheelchair assistance is as chaotic as the Gate to Basel was way off site. Only bright spot was the attendant taking us from the E terminal over to the 2L to catch the mini bus to Terminal G. The attendant wheeled us to the head of passport security line which consisted with a room full of people queued for miles. We barely made the flight. No airplane ramp so stairs. Once we arrived at Basel, we waited for our luggage and met ZIP driver 30 minutes late. Ria from Viking did not give us the correct location of the ship so the first drop off was at the wrong ship. Luckily we flagged the ZIP driver down before he drove off to tell him we needed to go to Viking ship. The ZIP coordinator called Viking to get the correct address and relayed the info to the driver. After 20 minutes of the city of Basel tour, we made it to the correct Viking ship Idun. We checked in at the registration desk but the room was not ready so went to the dining room. After a bit, we finally received our room keys.

Cabin Review

Overall the room is nice with a balcony. One quirk is no drawer on the bed end tables. No place to store bed items like eye drops, chargers, etc. Only two 120 volt plugs so bring extensions for sure. Plus is the bathroom floor is heated.

As far as entertainment on TV, very little in movie selections but it does list the trip itinerary and daily meals available.
