As the Ariva ship is very similar to the Iona (we have been on her this year as well )

This review will just concentrate on the plus/negative points between the two

Plus points

Cabin Review

deck 5 balcony

did not really use the balcony as such but it was nice to look out off

room on the smaller size but perfectly adequate oddly no shaver point

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Ships docks in a designated port area

It is possible to walk to the start of the town area about (25 minutes walk depending on where you are docked )

If you are on the saver fare the shuttle cost £4 per person each way select is free

The shuttle takes you to the world trade centre from there you can walk to the town area/rambles

Or if you are on the saver fare another option is to use the blue cruise bus

(not as frequent as the shuttle bus but still works to quite late )

This costs 4.5 euro,s return or 3.00 euros one way

There is a nice selection of shops (we were a bit underwhelmed by the rambles)

A place to stop and have a drink is placa reial (big square just of the rambles)

Can recommend cerveseria canaries for a drink pleasant surroundings and prices seemed ok

If you are feeling adventurous in the daytime what we did was opted for a walk to paral-lel then up funicular then onto cable car to montjuic castle

You can then walk back to the ship via the steps in front of the miramar hotel

(bit tricky need google maps)

Duty Free seemed a bit pricey

La Coruna

We have visit before

Ship docks virtually in town

Most people exit to the right to walk to the lighthouse

If you go left for a few hundred yards then right

It is fairly easy to get to the nice beach on the other side

Nice place to wander around

Very limited duty free

Valencia

dock in an industrial area so a bus is required to exit dock area free bus to the gates

then can get buses to other places (research is required if this is what you would like to do )

If you are on the saver fare option the shuttle bus will cost you £4.00 per person each way

If you are on the select fare there is no cost

We went on the shuttle which took us to the science museum and aquarium (very impressive buildings)

There is also a good shopping mall opposite

No duty free in port
