Our cruise started with a pre- extension to Cappadocia- which was amazing- the only complaint I have is that I wish we had it at the end of our trip- we were sleep deprived from our 3 flights from Orlando to Istanbul- after we were picked up by Viking we went to a lovely hotel- The Conrad Hilton- but we never had time to enjoy the hotel- we had to go right to sleep in order to meet back at the lobby at 3:45 AM for our flight to Cappadocia. Our days there were also packed with wonderful tours- so we had an early wake up every day including our last day for our flight back to Istanbul. Wish we had more time there - and also time to enjoy our very interesting hotel- Yunak Evleri- But still I don't regret goin there!

In Istanbul, we got on our ship and our first afternoon- we had to make up for all our lost sleep.

The next day we chose to hire a private guide- as the included excursion didn't have all the sites we wanted to see- it was a great tour- and a very interesting city.. and the port was convenient to the old city- our guide took us on public transportation- only a few stops and then we were able to walk everywhere!

Cabin Review

our cabin was on the best side for all the ports! we were next to our kids and enjoyed the very limited time you could connect the verandas- ( as soon as started to sail they closed them up)

Port Reviews

Athens (Piraeus)

The Classic Greece Extension is amazing- enough time in Athens- but you also get out into the countryside _ Delphi was a highlight. The included lunches were delicious!

Canakkale

the only short day- which was adequate to see ruins of Troy.

Istanbul

Amazing city- too little time there- but our private guide helped us navigate our full day tour - so we got to see the highlights- Hagia Sophia ( a must) the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, the Sistern, the Topkapi Palace, and the Spice Market- we skipped the Grand Bazaar- and enjoyed an delicious lunch in a lovely cafe in the historic section.

Kusadasi

WE did an all day tour- with a Viator company- and enjoyed our own pace at Ephesus- including the Terrace houses ( a must!) also in spite of the hard sell - we enjoyed the carpet demo and the ceramic demo- and delicious lunch- adn some shopping time at Kusadasi--- can't wait for my rug to be delivered! I didn't think I would buy one , but they were beautiful!

Rhodes

A wonderful included walking tour in this very lovely and ancient city of Old Rhodes!

Agios Nikolaos

We actually went to Heraklion in Crete- we enjoyed our optional tour to Knossos Palace, we then were left off in Heraklion which is a very busy and interesting port- had a great meal at a restaurant they we were lucky to have reserved before we had arrived.. very delicious and popular- Peskesi!
