Seeing Norway was always on our bucket list, but delayed because of the pandemic. Thankfully, we were able to take this cruise in May 2023 on the Nieuw Statendam. Holland America did not disappoint as the ship was gorgeous, the staff were excellent as always, the food was delicious, and the ports were beautiful. We decided to take quite a few excursions with the ship and also with Shore Excursion to ensure we could experience as much as possible in this wonderful country. In Bergen we headed out on foot and took a bus to a gondola to get a view of the entire area. Our favorite port and activity was the train in Flam (which needs to be booked months before the cruise as it fills up quickly). The excursions are expensive, but well worth the investment if you are only travelling to Norway once. This is definitely a trip for those who appreciate shear natural beauty.
