We lived in San Francisco 50 years ago and wanted to combine a nostalgic stay there with a leisurely cruise back to England via the Panama Canal and Atlantic crossing. Oddly we were unable to board in SF and had to fly to LA whilst we met passengers on board who had had to do the reverse! Cunard or Imagine Cruising to blame? Who knows.

As regular Celebrity cruisers we were a little anxious about a change to a Carnival Vista class ship but we need not have been concerned. Disappointing to find our HAL frequent cruisers points not transferable to Cunard

Cunard is very different from Celebrity but not necessarily worse. Embarkation was the best we've ever had. The entertainment is very varied and some of it top class. The lectures were excellent. We attended Beginners Bridge for 9 sessions and were impressed.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Well equipped with comfortable king sized bed and duvets. Plastic shower curtain disappointed. Kettle in cabin a plus but only awful powdered instant coffee, not freeze dried. Efficient and helpful cabin steward. Towelling robes and slippers provided.

Balcony large enough with metal front which I liked but wife preferred more usual glass front.
