Viking surpassed all of our expectations from Piero at Viking who booked our cruise to each and every crew member as well as those involved in transports, excursions, and pre and post land stays. We cruised from Barcelona to Athens for a total 26 days including pre and post stays. We intentionally chose an early spring, late March to April, voyage to avoid heat and crowds. It was perfect for us. Only carried the red umbrella 1 day and used my hoodie instead for a short/light rain. Accommodations were very comfortable, cabin stewards superb, bartenders just the best, and service everywhere so very gracious and attentive. Although the Sky is one of the older ships, it was beautifully maintained and showed no signs of wear. As for food, it was mostly very good with a few greats. The fish served was always foreign to me…no Chilean Sea Bass or flounder; so although I mostly enjoy new tastes, I didn’t enjoy the offered fish selections…but boy-oh-boy, did the lobster nights, every Tuesday on our cruise, make up for my disappointment in the fish!!! Manfreddies was very good and we got as many reservations as desired once on board. We skipped the Chefs Table as my husband is not an adventurous eater…he was not impressed by the menus items mentioning “foam”as an ingredient, LOL. Our favorite ports were surprisingly in Croatia. We enjoyed port talks and the included tours. Entertainment was right up our alley with Alba and Beatles tribute shows and the classical guitarist was much enjoyed. The Viking band, with the incredible show-stealing trumpet player was also great. Ready to do it again!
