My wife and I were tired of the hot and humid summer days here in Virginia so we booked a ten day cruise out of Seattle to Southeast Alaska. We were not disappointed. Everyday was in the sixties and the days were mostly over cast and not all that much rainy. We booked a Regatta penthouse suite room one of the very last available six months in advance. The room was adequate and the bath was small but functional. My wife would have preferred a tub, but today only the very best suites offer tubs. Our room was cleaned and serviced twice a day and we had a butler if we needed his service. The Regatta staff throughout the ship were extremely friendly and helpful. Oceania's cruise plan you pay up front for everything except alcohol outside of dinner and spa and some extras. This we like since we are not nickeled and dimed for most everything like some cut rate cruises.

The weather was what we were looking for cool and overcast. Most of the week the sun did not come out except for a few hours three or four days. The seas on the ocean were mild and most people had not problems with seasickness at all. Our room had a king bed and a sitting area. Way too many hangers and we did not need all of the draw space that was available. We are bronze members so our butler served us champagne the first night out. Very nice of him to do this. There was another wine bottle offered, but we did not open the bottle during the days on board.

Our package gave us four special dinners which we took advantage. The Toscanna and Polo Grill were very good. One of the things I like about Oceania is the food that is served. Very nice and much better than average. The buffet serves about the same that is offered in the main dining room. The numbers of passengers on board is wonderful (over 600) very few lines. Only problem is there are never enough seats in the buffet area. Since it was cool the stewards rarely opened the patio to diners.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Suite

Large enough cabin - good size king size bed. Sitting area. Tv programs ok. They had MSNBC, CNBC and Fox news. A lot of movies to choose from. Several TV shows. Mini Refrigerator, Coffee Maker, WIFI, Lots of UPC connections and several American and European Plug-ins. Bathroom was small with just a shower lots of towels, cabinets, two robes. Shower had a main rain nozzle and a powerful wand. The toiletries were separate and not bolted to the wall. Wonderful. Closet was very big with more than enough hangers. Much drawer space.

Port Reviews

Inside Passage (Cruising)

Tight Passage Expert Cruising Close to Shore.

Hubbard Glacier (Cruising)

Terrible, did not get close enough to actually see the glacier and that is hard to do considering the size of the glacier.

Skagway

Take a ride on the White Pass and Yukon Railroad. Then walk the streets of a town set up just for tourists.
