We chose this cruise as a 70 birthday present to each other. 26 night cruise including the Amazon. Booked a conceige cabin, so had a pre- cruise hotel. Lovely room but stuck in a residential area, long queue to check and poor luke warm breakfast. Never had such a long wait to board, even had a wait to even join the queue. The poorest standard cabin, I have had on a cruise ship. Cracked, chipped and badly filled tiles in the shower, and like the boat in general, very tired. There were only 3 ports of call in the first week, and the 3rd one was cancelled with some vague excuse of water levels entering the Amazon. Plus points. - The front of house staff were the best we have had. The trips were very good, except for one where we spent 20 minutes in a diesel filled cabin waiting for the ships landing door to open. On one tender journey, we had to wait an hour in the hot sun ( why not use more boats ? ). Negative points:- food - while good not quite up to usual standard. Unless a feature night Sette Marie ( then it was very difficult to get in ) had a very repetitive menu. It is so small that we were turned away twice. Drinks - Featured wines at dinner were generally lower grade Californian wines, so had continually ask for alternatives. Only one part opened bottle of Dubonnet on the boat which ran out with no replacement bought on board. Entertainment- With 2 exceptions was well below standard. The pianist/ singer in the piano bar was excellent, and it was crowded every night. The stars lounge was mostly empty. The Regent band had the personality of a wooden plank. On the first week, the house singers appeared twice, and the dancers once. The standard very average. The really low point was a racist comedian. A lot of the British guests walked out. There was however, an excellent group of local Brazilian musicians bought on board. Other comments - The Amazon is great if you like looking at oil tankers and container ships. Avoid this boat.
