The Spectrum of the Seas is a very large ship with many activities for families and people who want to experience onboard activities. Although my husband and I are in neither of those categories we enjoyed the cruise and particularly the quieter areas of the ship set aside for suite guests. Our junior suite was a good size and in very good condition. The food was good quality and the staff were friendly. But, unless you are in suite, this is not a ship for people who want a personal experience onboard. There is no getting away from the fact that this is a large ship with a lot of guests.

We went to the headliner show, Silk Road and the aerial show. They were all great.

I was very disappointed in the spa. I had made two bookings before going on board. I was told that they were not able to be modified yet the spa changed the time for each without telling me! This meant that for the first one I turned up on time only to be told that I had missed my appointment because they had changed it to an earlier time without telling me. Give the spa a miss.

Cabin Review

Sky Junior Suite

The cabin was a good size and well appointed with the following negatives.

1. The lounge inside was small, hard and one end of it was coming away from the body of the lounge.

2. The only other chair was a desk chair meaning the two people could not sit comfortably inside, unless they lay on the bed.

3. The balcony loungers were low and hard. Other stateroom balcony’s had nicer chairs.

4. Being on level 16 meant the balcony had no cover. Not good for a summer cruise.

Port Reviews

Hong Kong

There was a shuttle to the promenade. Make sure you find out where the buses to return to the ship will leave from and what time the last bus will leave. We very nearly missed the last shuttle because we were not sure about this information.

We enjoyed the Hong Kong history museum, even though it is undergoing a major renovation and they only have a temporary exhibition space.

Nha Trang

We did a local private snorkelling tour with Vietnam Active. It was well priced, they picked us up and dropped us back at the port. They provided a great lunch. It was good day. Remember to wear sunscreen. Even better, accept their offer of wetsuit.

The port is small and it is an easy walk to the port gate from the tenders.

Singapore

The terminal in Singapore was undergoing renovations so it took us over an hour to get off the ship and through immigration controls. Be warned. There is nowhere you can get out of the queue and sit down or use the bathroom.
