The title of this review will be explained later, and it has nothing to do with hygiene. For identification purposes my wife and I have been cruising fairly regularly for the past 20 years. We are “older,” fairly healthy, we prefer taking the stairs to riding the elevator. Celebrity has been our favorite cruise line since the start, but we have also cruised on Princess, RCL, Holland America and Carnival. Not only has Celebrity been our favorite cruise line, but the Summit is also our favorite ship. That’s what makes this difficult to write so I will attempt to provide two perspectives on our recent cruise to Canada, Greenland and Iceland.

If we were new to cruising, we would have found just about everything about our cruise experience to be what we expected it would be. The food was good. The service was decent. The entertainment kept us entertained and all the house bands and singers in the lounges were very good. (The Celebrity Band as well as the Celebrity singers and dancers continue to be the best on the seas)! The Cruise Director kept things lively with a variety of activities throughout each day and his personality made people smile whenever he entered a room. Captain Nigel is as good as it gets in the cruise industry. If we were new cruisers, we would have had a nice time and enjoyed ourselves. However, I’m not certain we would get hooked on cruising or Celebrity because of it.

Our problem is that we can recall what cruising was like before covid. While we enjoyed every cruise we have ever taken, we enjoyed Celebrity ships the most because, in our opinion, Celebrity was a step above the other cruise lines because of the SERVICE they provided. That is where the change has occurred. Celebrity is not providing the service it once did, the service that made them the best.

Cabin Review

Prime Veranda

The most recent renovation was done very well. The shower was greatly improved from our previous cruises. The balcony needed attention, especially in cleaning the glass.

Port Reviews

Akureyri

Great port with plenty of great excursions available. Get out and see the country.

Prince Christian Sound

One of the highlights of all of our cruising history! A must see!
