We had an totally enjoyable and worry-free cruise tour with Royal Caribbean on our recent July 2010 trip! This was our first cruise tour and we did not know what to expect. I must say that the entire experience was great and we would definitely book a cruise tour with RCI again.
The tour started in Milan where we were promptly greeted by RCI representatives in the baggage claim area of the Milan Malpensa airport. We were quickly escorted to an air conditioned van with two other members of the tour and driven about :30 minutes to the hotel that overlooked Lake Maggiore in Stresa, Italy. We met our tour guide, Annamaria, at the hotel and she provided us with information about the next few days and our land tour itineraries. The hotel was very nice (the Hotel Bristol)and comfortable. The only complaint was that all of the tour members were placed on the first floor with a somewhat obstructed view. We wished that RCI would have offered an option for a better room, but the air conditioning worked great and the hotel was a 4-star right on the lake.
We toured the lovely town of Stresa and our guide escorted us to a gorgeous botanical garden by boat where we spend the second morning. That afternoon, we visted Isole Bella and had a great dinner on the Isole Pescatore on Lake Maggiore. We left the next morning for an hour or so drive to beautiful Lake Como where we took a boat ride on the lake and saw magnificent estates owned and occupied by the rich and famous. It truly was breathtaking.
Cabin 8078 Junior Suite - Rear port side, good cabin location, very quiet with no noise from upper pool deck (it's directly under the salon so no-one's there in the evening or early morning). Good closet and drawer space. Good bathroom facilities. Great balcony!
