I don’t understand the negative reviews. We are a couple in our 60s, very active and we chose the ship for the ports of call on the coast of Norway and the fact that it was a relatively new ship, in service for about a year. The staff was well trained, always greeting everyone with a smile and they seemed to know us early on, knowing our drink selections and eager to please. Our room steward was Gedde, and Tristan did a fantastic job. We initially had trouble with the bed being lumpy and too soft, but after a visit to the hotel manager, it was finally corrected. The food venues were all very good. Our only complaint was for a 10 day cruise, the selections seemed to never change and some venues didn’t have a big selection. The pasta at the Italian restaurant was amazing. The buffet breakfast was better than the a la cart in Atlantide. Service was excellent in all venues except breakfast and lunch in Atlantide was a little slow. The Chocolate extravaganza was truly amazing. Entertainment was very good especially considering how small a ship it was. Bruno was the ship’s MC and he was fantastic, great sense of humor, everyone loved trivia. The sailing was smooth. Beautiful, calm, decor throughout the ship. The gym was well equipped and well attended. There were Pilates classes daily. We were in room perfect, quiet, central and low to prevent sea sickness. Some excursions were great, like the bike ride in Oslo and some should not have been scheduled, like the muddy, dangerous hike to a waterfall. The ship was full, but never felt crowded. The fellow passengers were lovely and from many countries, the United States being the majority of the passengers. Most passengers seemed to be in the 60 year range, there were a few children. In general it seemed to be an active group. I would gladly sail with silver seas again.
Superior veranda, bathroom roomy, clean, the shower is a little small, the bathtub was lovely, I never asked for the butler to draw a bath, I did it myself, there were bath salts in the bathroom. The bathroom had adequate storage and lighting. The room also was roomy and had good storage and lighting. The stewards seemed to be unobtrusive and cleaned the room 3x a day.
The port was lovely, the walking guide rambled and made no sense so we walked about on our own, and the little restaurants were to crowded to find seating.
The guided tour to the fish market was horrible, the restaurant they took us to gave out inedible samples. The tour guide was not very interesting, but the town was architecturally nice. We took the funicular up on our own and there are lovely walking trails there.
The bike tour and museum tour were great. The town hall is definitely worth a visit.
