We chose a Mexican Riviera cruise for a family event (10 people). Overall, it was pleasant but there were some bumps.
We had a Club Class Mini-Suite. The bed was very comfy and the room had plenty of storage. Everything is a bit dated, but it was spotlessly clean. Our room attendant was fantastic.
Reserve Collection dining was very nice on embarkation day (we had lunch there right after getting on the ship). The service was prompt and the food was tasty. Dinner would have been a better experience if the manager had refused one of our party's request for a table all together. The table we had was not quite big enough to accommodate so many people so it was hard to move around. Service was also a bit slow and sometimes confusing. I am not faulting the staff here as we were a large group and someone in our group DID request we sit together (ugh). However, there was an incident towards the end of our cruise where I do fault management's handling of it: a table close to us had two children repeatedly banging their chairs on the ground. One of our party asked the mother to have them stop. When they were leaving they stopped by our table and the mother poked that person in the arm and yelled that her dinner was ruined. The manager's response was to tell the person the mother poked to calm down. He was so upset by that he left before dinner was served. I realize there wasn't much the manager could do, but telling someone to calm down when they are upset is rarely effective.
Cabo was a great stop. We went on a sailing excursion and then had drinks in town afterwards.
Ensenada was a great stop for shopping. We also had lunch at Mahi Mahi - fantastic seafood!
The port is about 30 minutes from La Paz by cab or shuttle. Not ideal, especially since it was so hot (over 100) the day we stopped there. Got off the ship for a hot minute and got back on.
