I did the Viking Homelands cruise with a pre-extension in Stockholm and a post-extension in Iceland. The Viking Mars was a beautiful ship with caring staff and wonderful food. The onboard experience was excellent with guest lecturers and informative port talks. The onboard entertainment was very good too. Viking is an all adults cruise line.
My cabin was on deck 3 and was very comfortable. The location was very good too as it was easy to use the elevators to go up to deck 7 for the Explorer Lounge and the World Cafe restaurant. Deck 2 had the main dining room. They also had amazing tables with built-in electronics for playing games too. There was a Viking history section detailing about the Vikings. It also had an animated version of the Bayeux Tapestry which tells the story of the Norman conquest of England.
The extension to Iceland was amazing! I saw the meeting of the North American Plate with the European Plate, Guilfoss waterfall, glaciers, volcano crater plus amazing scenery.
Beautiful Scandinavian design and very comfortable. The shower was roomy and easy to operate. It had 120VAC and European 220VAC outlets.
Not a whole lot to see here.
Great City Tour which included the Funicular Railway to the top of Mount Floyen. Great views. Also, the Hanseatic Museum was quite interesting.
