Ship was amazing, but you need to take shore excursions to really see the fjords

I chose this cruise after spending 2 weeks in the south of France when it was 42 degrees! We will go North I said, let's do a cruise to the Fjords, we won't be too hot there next summer. And how right I was.

The weather was dreadful, rained the whole time we were in Norway, but it wasn't too hot to do sightseeing so a good decision to not go south this summer!

The ship, the staff, the food, were amazing. 10/10 for our experience on board. The Myholiday app was easy to use and we never had to wait longer than 10 minutes for a table in the restaurants which were included in the freedom dining. Wait was considerably longer for the signature restaurants, and some of these were fully booked for the entire week when we logged on the first day on board which was disappointing.

Cabin Review

Beds very comfortable. Large roomy cabin. We had booked 2 cabins with a connecting door as we were travelling with a teenager. Everything was very clean. Cabin steward friendly and efficient. Had one issue with a blocked toilet. It was fixed before I came back from Reception.

On deck 12, starboard, midships, didn't feel any movement during the bad weather we had at sea on the way up to Norway, so a good position to pick if you are prone to motion sickness.

Port Reviews

Olden

Port of Olden was great, the only one on our cruise actually on a fjord. Trip to the Glacier was great, scenic trip of around 20 minutes by bus along the fjords. Super experience for the sail away, flags flying, music pumping, people on the boat clapping... best port of the trip.

Stavanger

We arrived late so unfortunately the shore excursions to Pulpit Rock were cancelled.

Not an awful lot to do in the town unless you want to buy souvenirs and then you are sorted!

Alesund

Pretty town, again, not that much to do or see unless you want souvenirs.

Best to book an excursion and then collect postcards etc on the way back to the ship.

Haugesund

The least scenic mooring of the trip, right next to a gas platform in production. On an industrial mooring so a long walk into town on foot. Did the Viking village tour which was ok but not really worth the money. Our least favourite stop of the trip.
