I have cruised with celebrity on two other occasions and wasn’t disappointed with beyond for its style and its fabulous staterooms and food and entertainment.
Having said that cruising with celebrity has changed in as much as beyond is more a party ship with music everywhere you go, you can’t get away from it even in the speciality restaurants which are open to the music going on below making conversation difficult, I would also say that just 2 of the speciality restaurants are worth going to as the food in the complimentary restaurants are very good. The classic drinks package is very expensive and I’m not sure it was worth it, basic wi fi was very basic and we booked concierge which last time we cruised with celebrity concierge it was ranger special from the moment you stepped aboard. This no longer applied we arrived expecting to be greeted and shown to a special concierge lunch which they make it look special, well there was a steward at a desk we asked where the lunch was he pointed down the ship in the direction it should be and was left wandering around the ship aimlessly looking for this venue only to find it didn’t exist, we made our way to our stateroom which was beautiful out steward introduced himself explaining what he can do to help etc he told us that the two bottles of water were complimentary only for the first day and after costing 12 dollars plus 20% service thereafter even after we’ve paid for a very expensive all inclusive package. We checked the concierge room to book our speciality restaurants as we had purchased a package but couldnt get anywhere near as it was packed out with a crowd of cruisers waiting to be seen so waited until the next day only to find almost every restaurant was almost booked and had to take was was left which is not what we really wanted even though as concierge cruisers we should have priority.the end here on another bad note once you leave the ship celebrity don’t really want to know you, your left at your own devices, the coach dropped us off at terminal 3 at Rome airport knowing that some passengers required terminal 1. And to cap it all when we arrived at Gatwick our luggage was still in Rome and it took 5 days to arrive with one case badly damaged.
