We chose this particular cruise because of our previous experience with Viking on the Viking Star and the Iconic Mediterranean cruise. Additionally, although we live in North America neither of us had ever been to any parts of Canada together. The prospect of visiting some of the iconic cities and locations in Quebec and Nova Scotia was very inviting and there was no cross Atlantic flight required. We also extended our cruise in New York City so that we could visit our daughter who lives and works in Manhattan.

As we expected, the cruise was absolutely delightful. The shipboard amenities and activities were as expected and maybe a bit more. Cuisine was spectacular. We ate predominantly at The Restaurant and the Chef's Table. Even though the World Cafe was excellent, we preferred selecting from a menu rather than the buffet style of the World Cafe. The ship offered a wide variety of foods and deserts plus a delightful selection of wines paired to the meal. We had opted not to upgrade to the premium wines as we had done on the Viking Star because the house wines on the Viking Star were exceptional and comparable to the premium wines. Having chosen the house wines for the trip, we knew that if they did not measure up in quality we could always upgrade with a click of a button on the Viking TV system. We were well pleased with the house wines.

As we went from port to port, we took the inclusive tours at each port save in Boston where we added a tour to the Harvard/Cambridge part of the city on the second day at that port. The transportation arrangements at each port were well planned and coordinated between the ship and the on shore providers. All and we repeat all of the guides were truly exceptional in knowledge and personality. They all gave a sense of love for their cities/villages and added personal commentary appropriate for the tour. All guides were mindful of the tour participants and their needs -- it wasn't a forced march when we were on foot. All guides were very knowledgeable about their particular tour and gave a sense of where the information they presented or showed us fit into the larger sense of the port city.

Cabin Review

Our cabin was a Penthouse Veranda (PV3) Cabin - 338 sq ft. Cabin was well appointed and arranged with a sleeping area, sitting area with a coffee table, sofa , chair, and desk w/chair. There is plenty of closet space and numerous drawers in the closet, the credenza, and desk. The desk also hides the small refrigerator with waters, sodas, wines, and liquors. The veranda had two chairs and a small table. Our cabin was on the 4th deck forward in the ship.
