Two years ago we sailed to the Caribbean on the Celebrity Reflection. It was an amazing experience! In the meantime we sailed with our teens on Royal Caribbean. RC is great for families, but definitely not the upscale experience we had on the Reflection. We decided to go back to Celebrity this year and pay the higher prices for the higher quality experience.

While the food, entertainment and service were all still outstanding, the ship itself is a little shabby and its community spaces are not as well-designed as the Reflection. One of the reasons we liked the Reflection so much was that when we wanted a party atmosphere we could find it, but we could also find some peace and quiet when we wanted to relax. The peace and quiet part is generally missing on the Equinox.

This is partly because the front sun deck that we used every day on the Reflection was reserved exclusively for guests of The Retreat on the Equinox. I believe it was open on the Reflection in 2021 because of Covid. So, it may be reserved for The Retreat guests now. Read more
