We've done river cruises in the past on the Nile (in Egypt) and on Yangtze (in China) however never got the chance to do one in Europe due to the extortionate prices charged by Viking and other river cruiselines although I had always hoped to do one day if a good deal came along.

Well, we got a good deal on TUI Skyla. The itinerary was interesting sailing from Budapest to couple of Hungarian ports followed by 3 ports in Serbia including Belgrade and sailing the iron gates gorge of Romania/Serbia which was the highlight of this east Danube itinerary. The last port was Vukovar in Croatia before staying overnight in Budapest and flying back to London from there the next day.

Everything ran as per the itinerary. We flew with BA from Heathrow to Budapest. We were transferred to river boat by TUI bus transfer service which is great. We arrived to the boat after 3pm. Check in was a breeze. We were handed our room cards and some forms to sign and that was it! We could start enjoying all the facilities of the ship.
