We were so disappointed with HAL, that we will not sail with them again. It was a 30 day cruise (the 16 Day Cruise listed here plus a 14 day cruise attached). This was our 4th cruise with them and prior to this, we couldn't say enough good things about them. This time, it was awful. There were many issues with the food, the entertainment, issues with our stateroom, rude behavior by staff (not the servers or cabin stewards...they were as good as ever), misinformation and contradictory information given out by Guest Services, a general lack of information about the ports we would be visiting, people who didn't seem to know how to do their jobs, and a Cruise Director who seemed to be there only for his good looks and charm, because he did not put much effort into doing his job. There were many people on the cruise who had similar complaints. We spoke with several repeat cruisers who stated they would not book another HAL cruise, and quite a few first timers told us they were very unhappy and would book with a different cruise line next time.
I wrote a four-page letter describing in detail our issues and sent it to Guest Relations. After almost a month (including a follow up email asking for a response), I received an email from someone from the Office of The President which said, in essence “Thank you for your input. We are sorry. We will do better next time”.
