We actually embarked in St. Lucia (option not offered on this review page) and sailed to a couple of beautiful spots there before heading to Martinique. The snorkeling at Jade near the Pitons was fabulous, as it was again at Anse D'Arling on Martinique - really amazing diversity of sea life and very easy to access from shore. For those who shop, there were several opportunities, and the excursions offered were fun and interesting - great Rum Factory tour at Depaz on Martinique!

My husband and I have sailed with Island Windjammers many times and always have a great experience, regardless of which itinerary we choose. We had not been back to St. Lucia or Martinique in several years so were pleasantly surprised to have new and different experiences, but with the same excellent quality and attentiveness we've come to expect from Vela and her crew.

We can never say enough good things about the people who make Island Windjammers cruises so special. The crew was professional, friendly, and FUN! as always. We had a wedding on board this time - Andrew is apparently not only a great captain but also an excellent betroth-er! Very sweet ceremony. The mates and deck hands - Annie, Louis, Alix, Squall, and Omar do a fabulous job keeping things ship-shape, keeping us safe from ourselves and comfortable in our cabins. We love them all and always look forward to seeing them again.

Cabin Review

The cabins are small (it's a sailboat!) but comfy and cool. If you go, pack light in collapsible bags and take things you can hang on wall hooks. Very casual, so you don't need much more than a dry swimsuit each day and some tivas/water shoes for rocky beaches and the occasional hike to work off George's culinary creations. The stewards kept our cabin freshened and tidied each day - wish I could take them home with me. . .
