**Oasis of the Seas: The decline of Royal Caribbean Sky (Suite) class**
We are relatively long-time, avid fans of Royal Caribbean, having sailed 16 times in either Sky or Star class suites. What we have witnessed over the past several years is what must be the intentional, planned decline of Royal Caribbean’s suite-class experience. The Oasis of the Seas June 23-30, 2023 sailing from which we just disembarked seems to be the inflection point towards planned mediocrity. It is quite possible that Royal Caribbean is doing this in order to push higher-end clientele to their more luxurious and expensive Celebrity sailings. It is also quite possible that Royal Caribbean is hoping that by gradually reducing services, they can get away with providing less – at ever increasing prices. To be fair, they are selling out – so, at least in the short term – their strategy is working. However, judging by the rampant conversations among suite guests on this cruise – it has not gone unnoticed and traditionally loyal cruisers (like us) are exploring alternatives.
It also seems that Royal Caribbean is trying to cater more to the Carnival Cruise line customer base – more on that later.
This is a really great island with some very cool features but good luck enjoying any of it with more than 9,000 guests from two large cruise ships!
