This luxury Burgundy Hotel Barge cruise was brought to our attention by friends. They work closely with someone who has traveled multiple times with French Country Waterways. Everything we heard paled to the reality! The cuisine was beyond compare! The wines and cheeses were extensive. The excursions, included in the price and via FCW private bus, were interesting and informative. We can’t wait to book another cruise with FCW.
Food on board was provided by Tadek; excellent in every respect. A dining experience at a Michelin starred restaurant is included in the itinerary but was outshone by our on board dining. The menus were varied and beautifully presented and served. Breakfast was filling for the day ahead with bread, pastries, fruit and the option for made to order selections. Lunches were always eagerly looked forward to with 3 salads, a quiche, and an entree. Two wines and 3 cheeses were always served and changed daily. Dinners were an extravaganza. More wines, more cheeses and spectacular entrees. One night was a celebration of birthdays and anniversaries with an over-the-top dessert complete with sparklers. The bar was open all day long (and half the night) with many top shelf selections. Welcome champagne reception and pre-dinner drinks and nibbles.
Excursions included Dijon, Beaune, vineyards. Matthew was a great captain and knowledgeable tour guide. Walking along the canal path helped work off the magnificent food and wines.'
There are only 6 staterooms aboard the Adrienne. They are larger than you would expect and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. There was more than adequate closet and drawer space. The bathroom was very nice with a great shower.
