We chose Scenic for this cruise based on our expectations of the highest quality on offer given the reputation of Scenic and the price paid. However, we were disappointed with some aspects, especially the food offerings. For example; a prawn cocktail with one and a half prawns. Another entree with just a single oyster. Tough meat dishes that were often sent back to the kitchen and a fish main course that was the size of a small entree. These are not the makings of a five star experience and many guests made their feelings known.

The cruise content itself was exceptional and we enjoyed most of the included activities. Of course the towns and spectacular scenery along the rivers were the stars of this cruise. There is also no doubt that all the staff onboard were working hard to ensure we had an enjoyable time. Together they created a friendly family like atmosphere onboard and we thank them all for the welcome we enjoyed.

However, overall it appears to us that quality has been sacrificed perhaps in an attempt to cut costs. Whilst we understand that, we are also aware that Scenic is an expensive cruise by comparison and in our opinion is no longer offering value for money.
