It was my 31st cruise but first time on NCL. I was very happy with the cruise (sort of a cross between Carnival/Royal) with many of the fun activities of Carnival but the more upscale venues of Royal.
Cabin - We had a family oceanview on 5. One really large bathroom, two twins/queen and a bunkbed for the adult sized teens with a curtain that pulled across for dressing and sleeping privacy. Lots of storage. The 5th floor was an ideal location. Would definitely book this family oceanview again.
Entertainment - Six and Burn the Floor were awesome but I would definitely get reservations. We also saw the Burn the Floor cast twice at the Manhattan Room which was my favorite dining venue. We ate early 5:30 so no problem getting a table. Only problem was the noodle bar, weren't able to get in there.
There were 4 of us. Two adults and two teenagers (12/17) This was a family oceanview on 5. It was awesome. Two twin beds separated by a privacy curtain with a bunkbed on the other side. The bottom bunkbed would have slid out to be a double so could have slept 5. Large bathroom with two sinks, and a large bathtub/shower combo. Lots of storage on both sides of the curtain. Would definately book this cabin type again.
NCL ships tour (beach). Great sandy beach, beach chairs/umbrellas included. Rental equipment adjacent. Nice restaurant with good food and clean restrooms. Also a nice area for getting in and out of the sun.
NCL Ships tour (beach). Tender port, tender tickets to alternative dock and return (via aerial tram in Fiera) included. Great beach but need water shoes due to the rocky shore to reach the beach. Beach chairs/umbrella included and a very nice restaurant adjacent with restrooms. After 4 hours excursion dropped off at Fiera to shop and return to ship.
Fiera is lovely but so crowded, after some short shopping we went to find the tram line and it was sooooo long. Many people left to tackle the steps or donkeys to get back to port. But not necessary, over 600 slick steps and the tram line moved quickly and we were back at the tender spot in 50 minutes.
NCL beach excursion sold out very quickly so book early. We took the free bus shuttle to town, walked through town. Returned via the 2EU ferry back to the port.
Private taxi tour (1/2 day Olympia) through Viator. Great tour, don't miss the bee farm option. It was a great experience at a family's home and stories of generations of raising bees. Samples of honey as well as a traditional welcome of "spoon treats" and drinks.
I think this was called Catania where we ported. Semi private (8 person van) to Mt Etna/Taormina with ItalyTours.EU.
Wonderful tour and we loved Taormina, such a beautiful old city. The gelato and Cannoli (both ricotta and cream were wonderful)
My favorite city in Italy was very crowded this June 4 day. But our guide through ItalyTour.EU did her best to weave our way through and side streets around the town to see the most popular sites and find the best gelato. Then we had 3 hours on our own. No matter the crowds, Florence is not to be missed. Sometimes it included the Leaning Tower of Pisa, up to you, but its a 1/2 hour walk to get a picture with the tower and then back.
