My son is turning 50 and my granddaughter is turning 18. We wanted to do something really special and booked this 9 day cruise out of Athens. We were 6 all together and even though the Connie is old, it had the perfect itinerary that included Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes, Ephesus, Kotor and supposedly ended in Venice ( at time of booking). I book through the Casino and they gave me a concierge cabin ( no perks) and two more at small discount. Can't complain. We flew Delta on our own, but on the way to the airport my daughter-in-law got a phone call from our hotel The Niche in Athens that one of our rooms would not be available! What! Fortunately the Athens Marriott came to the rescue. It is a great hotel with a terrific roof top Asian restaurant and a free shuttle to downtown ( 20 minutes). We enjoyed our stay and we were only 15 minutes from the pier. Be sure to look up the ship's berth in your cruise documents to help the driver as Piraeus is a very large port. The check in was super easy and we were seated in the MDR for our concierge lunch by 12:00.

Our rooms were furnished when Noah's ark was launched. A nice size but very shabby. The sofa was broken ( if you sat down you were on the floor. The railings rusty and the bed lumpy. The Shower was a nice size and the curtain ( not a fan) stayed put, but the shower head ( a removeable hand held fixture) drooped down and sprayed your feet. It was quickly fixed and any other problems were attended to immediately. The cruise staff and dining staff were fabulous especially our waiter Michael who went above and beyond sending food to our granddaughter from the dining room to her cabin when she was unwell and bringing our 15 year old grandson three shrimp cocktails. Sue the CD was a real professional and Ozzie ( trivia and games) terrific.

Don't plan on any TV. No accounts, no movies, no nothing.
