This was to be our 25th Wedding Anniversary Cruise through the Mediterranean. Due to the air flights being booked to close together by Norwegian Airlines the connections were not made and we missed getting on the boat in Rome. Although we would have arrived in time to board they would not permit it. They were to leave 5:00pm and did not leave until 5:45pm. We would have arrived by 4:45pm. They refused to wait, even though there were at least 30 passengers that missed the same connection. Double standards as several times on the cruise we waited many hours in port after we were to have left, waiting for late passenger's from excursions. But for us they could not wait an hour or less!

So we ended up stranded in Rome, no assistance, no transfers/cab, no food, no hotels and no luggage. When we called the Norwegian 1-800 Help Line for travelers they were laughable. They offered no help at all. The only thing they told us is we cannot help, sorry, you will need to get yourselves to Athens, Greece which is the next port we will accept you to board. So because of this we missed our dreamed spot we came on this cruise for - Santorini, Greece.

Suddenly we found ourselves in a strange country with nothing and no plans as to what to do or how. No support at all. All that money we spent on transfers, the cruise etc. were pointless. We were now pulling out our wallets again to find food, hotels, clothes and airline tickets. No Assistance at all.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

The cabin was acceptable/average.

There was nothing extra. They knew we were both on C-PAP machines and yet did not have extension lines for us to plug machines in as there are zero plugs by bed sides. Unlike ever hotel you ever are in.

We asked our steward for an extension cord and 24 hours later he brought us a power bar instead. This was of no use. I suppose its ok if passengers die because they cannot use their machines. Lucky for them neither of us died.

Nothing special. - No chocolates on pillow or little animals made out of towels - little niceties as we had on our last cruise with them.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We ended up in this lovely city - Civitavecchia for two nights, unplanned. However, we found the hotel and surrounding restaurants and shops to be quite lovely. If you ever get a chance you should visit this lovely place.
