The Paris to Swiss Alps cruise included days in Paris France and in Zurich Switzerland. We toured many vineyards with wine tasting and great discussions about what makes a particular regions wine really great. Each Port of Call provided an included tour, plus many extra tours of special interest. Viking usually includes options to meet or visit with local people and shops in various communities. We chose to select a pre-extension in Paris, and a post extension that took us across the Alps - including Cog trains, Swiss Glacier Express, and InterRegional trains - to Zermatt for viewing of the Matterhorn, and to Geneva including the Olympic Museum. The beginning our trip included Paris by Night Tour, Flavors of Paris and Delectable Parisian Gastronomy, Montmartre Hill, sightseeing of Panoramic Paris, and Paris Cabaret with Dinner. Then we transferred to the Viking Herja longship, and along the way we Reims Cathedral & Luxembourg American Cemetery. On-Board we experienced Trier Highlights in Germany, Bernkastel-Kues Wine Tasting, Cochem, Reichsburg & the Moselle Valley, and an Evening of Music & Wine. Continuing our journey we did a Mainz Walking Tour with Gutenberg Museum, visited Heidelberg & Martin Luther’s Worms, and finishing the longship part for Strasbourg France highlights and Alsatian Wine Tasting. Next, we disembarked at Basel Switzerland and participated in a Zürich Walking Tour & Lake Cruise. After the Alps excursion we finished in Highlights of Geneva and a lake cruise. A very enriching experience with excellent and knowledgeable guides. We are very pleased with the level of service and kind-caring staff. We have booked two more trip with Viking.
