We chose this cruise because we were celebrating our 50th Anniversary and we wanted to go on a cruise that ended in Vienna, so that we could visit our son and his family. It was quite a learning experience, as we were not familiar with eastern Europe. The first 3 ports consisted of those in Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia. All 3 countries have similar history, and were quite depressing. The toll that Communism took on these countries was evident. The sail down the Danube at this point was somewhat disappointing with not much to see.
That said, the ship and crew were amazing. We were in a Veranda Suite, which was spacious and had plenty of storage. Our room steward was attentive, and every member of the crew that we encountered was helpful and friendly. We had the wonderful perk of included laundry service, which was awesome.
The included tours were informative and well executed. We participated in 3 optional tours: Sights and Flavors in Bucharest, Budapest by Night, and Highlights of Budapest. We enjoyed and would recommend all 3.
The Veranda suite was awesome. Having the additional space was greatly appreciated for the 16 day cruise. It was lovely sitting on the veranda as we cruised. Of course, when other ships were tied up to our side of the ship, there was no view but a veranda on another ship. It still was very enjoyable.
