We had always avoided cruises, thinking of massive ships and massive crowds overwhelming the arrival ports. Many of my (retired) business school classmates suggested that we try a Viking river cruise--smaller, older, affluent demographic but most importantly the quality of the on-shore excursions. We got exactly what we expected--about 180 people, mostly USA with 8-10 Canadians and 6-8 Brits in the mix.
The ship was exactly as shown on the website, food onboard was very good and evening/entertainment time was fun.
The highlights of the trip were the on-shore experiences.
Exactly as shown on the website--good Scandinavian design. A little tight for space, but nothing we couldn't handle. Very well-designed with plenty of storage space in a small area. Bed was very comfortable. Couldn't hear our neighbors at all.
Bathroom was big enough for one person at a time. Enjoyed sitting on the small veranda in the afternoons and evenings when under way and watching the farms and villages slip by. Cabin service was outstanding--cleaned up and fresh towels each day if we needed them.
