Here is my review of our Regatta 12 day Alaska cruise embarking in Los Angeles on May 18th, 2023. Also some tips about the Ship that I have not read elsewhere on Cruisecritic.
We have sailed several times to Alaska but this was our first voyage with Oceania. Overall we were impressed with the quality of the food and service. Embarkation was a breeze. We arrived at 2PM to no lines whatsoever. We booked this cruise a few weeks before sailing so we did not receive luggage tags in the mail. Stevedores were at the curb to provide the tags and take our luggage. On check in we learned that there were would only be about 480 guests onboard. The ship capacity is 656 so we knew it would not be crowded on board.
We had a veranda stateroom on deck 6 that was small but suited our needs. As others have mentioned, the bed frame is low and does not allow suitcase storage underneath for most types of luggage. We managed to wedge one suitcase between the sofa and the window drapes which kept it out of the way. There were more than enough electrical and USB outlets in several locations. Our housekeeper and her assistant were terrific. It seemed there was always one of them working nearby. We did ask that they not do the evening service on our stateroom as once a day was ample for us. She just put the next day’s schedule and our chocolates in the door slot each evening.
Cabin was small (particularly the bathroom) but meet our needs.
