We chose this because of the price largely, it was cheaper than an 2 week holiday to Lanzarote at the same time. It was a good choice.
We'd been on P&O Oceana about 11 years ago for a Christmas cruise and the experience was just appalling, and we said never again. However a couple of friends recommended this ship, and largely they were right.
P&O try to big up the fact that they major on the food nowadays, and it was certainly 10x better than the previous cruise. The quality of the ingredients they use is obviously good, and the 4 gala nights, the food was very good indeed (same standard as Princess' regular dining). They could make small changes to improve the food offering that would make a big difference.
It was fine, a bit small, but big hanging space and a very good shower - with a door, not a curtain.
They've changed to bath gel and shampoo dispensers in the shower (fine) but nothing by the sink, so when you wash your hands after using toilet, you have to get shower gel from the dispenser in there. Bring your own soap !
We had three in the cabin, took 4 attempts over 3 days to convince housekeeping that we required 3 sets of towels. It was like we were the first ever party of 3 in a cabin.
Just a lovely city - go there
Much better than we expected, went to Porvoo and Suomilinnen island, both excellent. Buy a 24 hour pass for 9 euros - good for buses, ferries tram and metro
We thought Kiel might be dull, so we decided to go to Lubeck on the train, but there was a train strike. Kiel is perfectly fine for half day in nice weather, and Woolworths live on.
We thought there'd be nothing to do as it was a Sunday, but it was lovely if a bit sleepy
Possibly the nicest city in Europe and the best sailaway anywhere. Spent almost 4 hours just watching the scenery go by, magical.
There's actually not much there, but what there is, is magical. Just lovely to wander about, people are lovely too. Would go back in an instant
