We read the previous reviews the night before our trip and tried our best to keep an open mind. Since it is a new ship, we had nothing to go off of except reviews of Scenic overall. So if you are booked on this ship, stop reading reviews and double check with scenic your fare and what is included. Stop there. Read no further. Reading the reviews made us extremely apprehensive. It is fair to say that we are not seasoned cruisers and maybe cruising is not for us. But, our opinion is that the Scenic Eclipse II, as previously stated, is not ready for prime time. We had high expectations and that’s where we went wrong from the beginning.

Most of the staff was lovely, some had a lot of training and some could use more. It has to be taken into consideration that staff come from all over the world. Many of them give up a ‘normal’ life to service these ships. Any service issues we had seemed to be language related, especially in Azure Cafe and in the Yacht Club which is not staff’s fault. Just a lack of understanding between cultures. But, if you order a coffee or drink, you will wonder what drink will arrive or if you’ll get your drink. I think with some more training the issues could be ironed out. I wish that the cruise line would do drinks and/or food related to the region, but not offered at this time.

The state rooms are beautiful with some issues. The sinks are a poor design. They are a very large design where the drain is far in the back. So anytime you brush your teeth, you are somewhat forced to clean the sink as it’s just a bad design to get the water to drain. The bathroom door is in location that knocks into the closet door when both are opened which happened to us a lot. Maybe we needed to communicate better and yell something like ‘I’m going to exit the bathroom now’. We had both a plumbing and electrical issue and both were handled promptly. I think the bathroom plug being inside the medicine cabinet is not a good idea but the storage in there is great. The bed and linens were beautiful and comfortable.
