I was not a seasoned cruiser , I had only been on a Carnival, Holland America , Oceana , Windstar , Regent and One River Cruise . We decided to do the Ireland Intensive and one more to France , Portugal and Spain . It wound up being Twenty Seven Back To Backs on the Quest . We did Ireland, France, Portugal, Spain , Malta , Bali, New Zealand, Australia , Greece twice , all the way to Singapore , Hong Kong, Viet Nam , Japan and back to Singapore . Ten Months on the Quest . Each captain had rotated at least once and the crew changed several times . So ! I got to see a great deal of the Quest . Richard , the Hotel Manager could not have been any nicer . Nada , and the Quest Relations People were fantastic with whatever we asked for . Some individuals mentioned Bruno from Brazil, and he was just wonderful as well as all the others . Silvano , that head of security became a friend as well as the doctor, the head chef and I never would have stayed on the ship if things had been so bad .
I had issues with the slowness of the Internet . I think we all did . They say it was better , but, I found it very difficult to do any business when I needed to . You can order the daily items at dinner, but after so long on the ship the menu began to become a bit dull . However, every morning , they had my breakfast ready and catered to our every needs . Our room stewards were fantastic and we had to move rooms many times, but , they came in and did everything for us . The ship is of course quite dated . My wife was on the same ship 27 years ago and pretty much nothing has changed . I guess that is good if your nostalgic , but , it needs an overhaul . The gift shop is a bit lacking in some of the simple things you require and we had an issue with a nice ring I purchased . Overall, I had a great time and have booked the Iceland , Scotland , Amazon, Antartica and Chile sailings . They have some issues since they broke from the parent company . I hope they get it squared away . Somebody messed up bit time there . I enjoyed it, that is just my opinion . We got to Japan in time to see all the Cherry Blossoms, they were early . The excursions were 50/50 , but, those were our choices . I found out the best thing to do is book a private cruise on the ship , share it with another couple and you can get in all the sights you want on your timetable . Enough of the gift store stops where you waste all your time . Did not mean to go on so long but it was a 10 Month Iris and John Cruise . We met many nice people from all over the world and the crew was great . Both Captains did their best and we enjoyed them as well . That is my take on the trip . Maybe, for those unhappy, ,give them another try .
We had inside , balcony, handicapped and Suite on the ship . Not so pleased with inside , but, without booking ahead on the back to backs , it is what it is . I was fine with the rooms . Again, a bit dated and the showers really need to be re-done. Very small for tall guys . They kept the room clean and every attendant was super friendly . The suites were nice , but again, dated . You actually have less closet space and a ton of drawers which I never used . For me, I would stick with the Balcony .
