This was our 2nd Viking river cruise, the first being in France. We had high expectations since we had a great experience last time, and we were not disappointed. The ship, food, and staff were all excellent. Shout outs to Chris, Dali, Darwin, Darrin and Jules especially as we had a lot of interaction with them. Loved Cologne and Alsace. Would have liked more time in a couple of the places, and could have skipped Speyer entirely. We did a number of optional tours - would recommend the Alsace winery tour and the Cologne Beer walk. I would not recommend the Dine in Rudesheim (very touristy and we did not feel it was very authentic), or the Fortress tour with the actor who played a “spy”. We did the pre-cruise in Luzerne and the post-cruise in Amsterdam and would recommend doing that, but we didn’t love the Movenpick hotel in Amsterdam - it wasn’t very convenient. Overall a wonderful experience and we are already planning our next Viking cruise.
