The itinerary was packed, always something new and exciting to see. The ship was beautifully laid out, felt spacious and welcoming, food was delicious and service was incredible. The spirits package produced a lot of confusion though. After we arrived onboard we were told that anyone who booked their spirits package after a specific date could no longer be included on the package. It was up to us to check with onboard staff whether we were in or out, very embarrassing discussions. Many spirits which were we told would be available were not, severely limiting our choice with no prior notice. Felt like a bait and switch.

The first hotel in Cairo, the Fairmont Nile City, was lovely and clean. The last hotel in Cairo, the Intercontinental Citystars, was awful! The hotel room was dated, dirty and unsafe! Tears in the carpet were trip hazards and the bathtub didn’t have a tub mat or safe way to exit the tub with a handle nearby. Worst of all the buffet there which we had for lunch and dinner the day before departure gave me and my travel companion serious GI issues. Completely unacceptable and below Viking standards, a dismal way to end our otherwise lovely trip.
