Chose this Norwegian Legends cruise because I thought it included two days cruising the Norwegian Fjords - in actual fact, the way the itinerary is printed is misleading. Cruise started in Amsterdam and we were told to embark at 11:00 a.m. On our way to the port, we encountered passengers who had left the previous cruise and were told there had been a novovirus outbreak on board and that embarkation for the next cruise had been delayed to 3:00 p.m. while the ship was cleaned and disinfected. No notification from Holland America regarding the delay. At the first port, Ulvik, total chaos and confusion reigned. This was a substituted tender - only port and it appeared nobody from Holland America had ever been there before. Only one tender at a time could access the dock and it took hours to get everyone on and off the ship. Passengers in wheelchairs were told at the last minute they would not be able to go onshore because of the primitive dock conditions. Arrangements were much better at the next tender port, thank goodness.
Our aft cabin on Gershwin Deck was beautiful and we enjoyed lying on our deck chairs watching the glorious Norwegian views.
We dined mainly at the Lido Buffet which we found offered a variety of dishes and a menu which included dishes offered at the main dining room. The food quality was not exceptional but nothing to complain about either. Of the speciality restaurants, we only dined at Tamarind which was absolutely marvelous and well worth a visit. A plus for the Lido Buffet was that all the tables had great views of the passing scenery which was not the case in the main dining room unless you were lucky enough to be seated by a window.
