I took my adult son and wanted something easy and fun from Galveston. Considering how many people were on ship, I thought the “getting on/getting off” process was reasonably good. Crew was great! Our cruise director Lawerence was wonderful. We enjoyed all of the shows and did most of them - comedy, Deal or No Deal, Love & Marriage, Bingo, Karioke, and production shows. I think the restaurant Blush for set time seating was nicer than the one for open/any time dinner at Sapphire. We ate at and paid extra for sushi (setting not fancy but sushi was good though limited menu), the Italian restaurant (great to get away from the masses and food was very good) and at steakhouse (pricey but worth it if you want a very nice dinner). The food at Sapphire was good and fun to talk to people at neighboring tables (you will be sitting very close together so don’t plan on a romantic dinner here)!

We never ate at the buffet except for breakfast. Guy’s hamburgers and French fries were very good, pizza was fine and easy because open all of the time.

Unless you really want to do an excursion in Costa Maya, I would just stay in town and enjoy pool at port and bird tour. I would not recommend the jeep tour plus beach. It was not worth $200 plus for 2 people and jeep had no open windows in back seat. A friend did do the catamaran to Paradise beach and they had a great time.

Cabin Review

The outside deck was a wraparound and really large but I feel we sacrificed room area for deck. Both the bathroom and room seemed to be smaller than 6499 and 6503 on either side of us. I liked 6499 better - the bed in 6499 faced the windows while our room’s bed faced wall. It would have been nice to wake up in morning and see ocean. Also their TV was directly in front of bed while ours was off to side. When set up as twin beds, there is not a lot of room to get around make up table and couch. Deck was not covered so not fun to sit out on in direct sun. Bathroom was smaller than our neighbors. We had smooth sailing so we did not feel much rocking & rolling. Some vibration but nothing to really complain about - it was somewhat soothing! The beds were great - loved the duvets and sheets. There was some black particles on deck from smoke stack. Not a real issue on our cruise but another reason I would choose 6499.

We did not hear anything from our neighbors or from deck below/above us. Only one night did we hear music or something but for the most part our room at end of ship was very quiet.
