We chose this cruise because it was a complete transit of the Panama Canal. The cruise had 5 stops plus a full day transiting the canal. Stops were Puerto Vallarta and Huatulco, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Panama City, Panama; and Cartagena, Columbia.

We booked local tours through Travel Advisor for all ports but Puntarenas which we booked through Princess. The Princess tour in Puntarenas was the worst we have had in 12 cruises.

It was billed as "Aerial Tram ride over a rainforest with animal viewing; Butterfly Garden; and Sloth Sanctuary. It started with a 1.5 hr bus ride to the Sloth Sanctuary, which was interesting for a half hour, but we stayed an hour. Next was another 1.5 hr bus ride to the Aerial Tram. We waited in line for lunch, a nature walk and the Tram ride. Lunch was terrible, the nature walk uninteresting, and the Tram ride was not over a rain forest. All we saw was the top of trees and no animals. The conclusion of this awful excursion was an almost 2 hr ride thru rush hour traffic to the ship. We got back 10 min before all aboard, the very last tour bus.
