We had previously taken a Viking Rhine River Cruise and enjoyed it so much that we wanted to do the Danube Waltz cruise with them. We started with their Prague pre-excursion package and stayed at the Prague Marriott hotel. The hotel was conveniently located near the Old Town, with many shops and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent. We did Viking's Prague walking tour, the Prague Night tour, the Lobkowicz Palace and the Kutna Hora excursions and enjoyed them all. Viking provided bus transportation to Passau where we boarded the ship. We really enjoyed our time on the ship. The food at every meal was excellent, the servers were so friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the time spent on the terrace and on the sun deck. We had a French Balcony room with the floor to ceiling window that was more than enough that I didn't miss having a balcony. The room is small but we hardly spent any time in the room anyway. It had all of the amenities that we needed. Viking provided so many extra touches - like blankets & Palinka (Hungarian fruit brandy) to those on the sun deck at night when we were coming into Budapest so we could see the city all lit up at night. The tour director, Mario, kept everything running smoothly. The onboard entertainment was well done - with Opera singers in Budapest and Classical musicians from Krems. Viking provided many excellent included and optional excursions. If anything - I think we signed up for too many excursions - we were always running. It is so nice to just sit and relax aboard the ship. I can't think of anything that went wrong or could be improved.

Cabin Review

French Balcony Superior

The cabin is small but has everything you need (toiletries, hair dryer, refrigerator, etc). We did not spend much time in the room anyway. The window view was amazing. We were docked next to another Viking ship at one place - but only for one night. The bed was comfortable and I loved the heated bathroom floor.
