My only complaint was the flight home. We had paid for the upgraded Premium Economy flight (both ways) and instead of flying us back to San Francisco from Paris as we had gone, we ended in Chicago which is not on the West Coast. It took us 27 hours & 3 stops to get home which is unacceptable to me. I've been sick with a bad cold every since. It was our first Viking trip and let them do the air reservations. I needed to pay more attention to the flights I guess. We wanted to go to France and Normandy as my father was in WWII. It was a very humbling experience and the fact that it was France's liberation day when we were at Normandy Beach was so moving. The service was awesome and the food was great. We had special folks that took very good care of us. Narcis, front desk, was great and moved us when items in the room didn't work!! Plamen & Georgi, Servers, were the best servers and spoiled us. And, Boris, Bar, never let our glasses get empty. We also got the 3 days in Paris post cruise. It was so much fun. The hotel, Hyatt Regency, couldn't have been more accommodating. We also got instructions on how to use the train and made it to Versailles and back all on our own. I would say that the cost of food at the hotel was pretty expensive so we ventured out for lunch and dinner. Thank you to all the Viking staff who took such good care of us. We'd book another cruise for sure but will be more careful when checking our flight information.
I don't know what the cabin category was that we were upgraded to. I just know that it was luxury we didn't expect and thankful we were spoiled by Viking.
