My husband and I signed up for the Regatta cruise round trip out of Los Angeles. We’d sailed Celebrity in the Mediterranean and to Alaska twenty years ago and enjoyed those trips but weren’t yearning to cruise again. We’d heard from friends who sailed before the pandemic that Oceania had phenomenal food and wine service. Instead, we got great food at several meals, but mostly it was something I’d expect at a banquet. They cancelled one stop, so our seven day cruise left us with only three stops. The night we headed into San Francisco the seas were rough so the ship pitched and rolled and we had the fog horn blowing all night.

The staff were all working hard, but many must have been new hires and seemed to be learning on the job. We usually had to ask to have water glasses refilled when we ate in the dining room.

Oceania advertises free wifi, but it’s only for one person in each room at a time. This made it difficult to text others in our group.
