Recently traveled with Norwegian on the Breakaway. We thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and have no major complaints about anything onboard. The food was excellent at all the venues we visited including Cagney's, Ocean Blu and La Cucina. Being Platinum level guests REALLY adds to the value of cruising on Norwegian. We were able to book 4 specialty dining (vs the 2 included) for the 7 day voyage. All of the perks for being Platinum level Latitudes guests, as well as Freestyle cruising are why we choose Norwegian over other cruise lines. We also always choose balcony level cabins at a minimum so I cannot speak for Inside or Oceanview cabins. I can say that we firmly believe the balcony is worth the cost as we enjoy our morning coffee outside on the balcony each morning watching the sea go by. If you ask for a coffee maker, one will be promptly delivered to your stateroom along with coffee and condiments (sugar, creamer etc). Some more positive notes; our shore excursions booked through the ship all turned out to be excellent and we had a blast on each of them, the shows and comedians were all very entertaining, the wines around the world tasting we did (Platinum level guests and above) was excellent and worth the time spent. Some slightly negative notes; the ship was under staffed (most notable in bartenders and wait staff as well as casino staff) and as a result some of the crew members were not as friendly as we have experienced on Norwegian in the past. There was also a noticeable lack of entertainment (music at least?) around the main pool on a couple of days including the port day in Belize. The "Glow" party hosted by the Cruise Director started late and abruptly ended earlier than expected. The cruise director on this voyage didn't seem very "connected" and we didn't see much of her throughout the voyage. Overall, we were very happy with the cruise, the itinerary and the value for this cruise. Norwegian is still getting back to pre-pandemic "normal" and has some room for improvement but we feel they still offer great cruising at a reasonable price point. We feel that their loyalty program (Latitudes) offers excellent incentive to continue cruising with Norwegian and we have already booked our next two cruises with them!
Standard Norwegian Balcony on Deck 10. Comfortable as expected. Nothing in particular stood out but we did have an excellent room steward who was friendly and efficient. The balcony was smaller than other balcony cabins we've sailed with on Breakaway in the past.
We did the Salsa and Salsa dancing excursion through Norwegian. We had a blast. Took a short bus ride to the salsa cooking class and were greeted with a cold Margarita and fun and friendly hosts. We made salsa and guacamole and enjoyed authentic Mexican flavors with more margaritas. After loosening up we moved on to the salsa dancing lessons and while I don't expect to take any dance floors by storm, fun was had by all. Following the dance lessons we had ample time to visit the beach and shop at the small shopping areas along the beach area. The sargasm (seaweed) wasn't too bad this early in the year which was a good thing. The bus ride back to the pier was even entertaining due to our great hosts. Highly recommend this tour!
